Skilled workers have education, work experience, knowledge of English or French and other abilities that will help them to establish themselves successfully as permanent residents in Canada. ImmiGlobe will assess your skills and make recommendations on how to make improvements if necessary, before sending your application to the appointed visa post. At ImmiGlobe we will recommend ways to make the processing times as short as possible.

Applications made by people wanting to enter Canada as skilled workers (often referred to as “independent immigrants”) are assessed according to a “point system” within which points are awarded to the applicants on the basis of the following factors:

  • Education (maximum 25 points)
  • Proficiency in English and French (maximum 24 points)
  • Work Experience (maximum 21 points)
  • Age (maximum 10 points)
  • Arranged Employment (maximum 10 points)
  • Adaptability (maximum 10 points)

To be accepted as a Skilled Worker, applicants must meet the following minimum work experience requirements:

  • have at least one year of full-time paid work experience (within the last 10 years)
  • have work experience in the category of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • prove that they have the funds required for settlement; and
  • earn 67 points in the six selection factors listed above.

Settlement Funds

You must prove you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada.
